Wharfedale selection meeting
Wharfedale selection meeting

Labour Party member Chris Hayden will be standing for Labour in Wharfedale on 2nd May 2019. Chris says:

My background is in charity work focusing on disadvantaged children and young people. I also have a growing experience in school governance and helping to find solutions to the pernicious cuts the Tories are inflicting on our schools.

I have previously stood for election in Idle and Thackley in the 2018 elections where I raised the Labour vote from 15% to 26%, in the process getting the best result for Labour since we last won the seat many years ago. I have also worked in both paid and unpaid roles within the party where I have gathered a wide range of skills, particularly surrounding campaigning and constituency casework.

I feel privileged to have been selected to follow in the footsteps of Niccola Swan who was an outstanding candidate for Labour and the people of Wharfedale. I am heartened by the warm reception from all of the members and residents of Wharfedale I have met so far and I am incredibly excited about the up coming campaign.

I am under no illusions that to win this seat for Labour, and in doing so give Wharfedale a voice on Labour Group, we are going to have to fight for every single vote. I hope in the coming weeks to meet many more of you to ensure that the coming campaign reflects the views and concerns of you and your families.

My campaign will be high energy and active. If you want to get involved or are willing to donate your time nearer to election day please do get in touch with me now. It isn’t all door knocking and canvassing, you may wish to phone bank, leaflet, envelope stuff, or help with social media, deliver letters or simply display a poster or garden stake.

My email address is C.Hayden@live.co.uk and you should feel free to get in touch with me about anything at all. In addition to this please add me as a friend on Facebook and follow Wharfedale Labour Party where your help sharing our messages nearer the time will be invaluable.
